29 PRESENTATION - TECHNICAL INFORMATION - 2023 PRESENTATION EQUIPMENT FROM DIFFERENT SOURCES Article R233-13-33 of decree 2004-924 dated 1 September 2004 states that “The sturdiness and strength of the constituent materials of scaffolding must be fit for its purpose. Assemblies must be made safely, using compatible elements from the same source and in the conditions for which they were tested”. Circular DRT 2005/08 dated 27 June 2005 clarifies the subject of compatibility: “The compatibility of assembly elements (structure) is ascertained through tests carried out by the manufacturer or under the latter's responsibility. Elements not sourced from the same manufacturer are thus not deemed compatible inasmuch as their compatibility has not been tested.” The characteristics of our CRAB range are justified through tests; if this equipment is combined with equipment from a range not presented in this technical information or of different origin, it is therefore impossible to justify the firmness of such scaffolding by calculation. Mixing models of equipment not presented in this technical information may lead to failure or accidents. In the event of failure or accident, the operator or user is deemed liable if he has disregarded the recommendations made in the technical manual. CE MARKING Scaffolding, whether or not with Afnor Certification and licence to use the NF mark, does not have CE marking. This is because scaffolding is not subject to European directives known as "new approach" directives that impose such marking (full list on www.afnor.org). RECOMMENDATIONS Fixed scaffolds should be interconnected and wind braced to support the vertical and wind forces to which they will be subjected. As the assembly or dismantling progresses, they will be firmly anchored to the building structure or any point with sufficient strength to ensure the stability even if a worker attached to the scaffold were to fall. Only specifically assigned, qualified operators should have access to the scaffolds during assembly, dismantling or modifications. Planks, wood beams, solid timbers and prefabricated decks used for decks must abut and the spans should be limited depending on their strength and the loads supported. Prevent the deck boards from tipping up. Ensure that these structures are strong and stable before installing lifting devices on the scaffolding. Loads should be distributed as uniformly as possible and the deck should be kept clear of rubble. After assembly or modification, the structure must be inspected. The inspection report must be displayed on the scaffold by the customer before it is used. Before dismantling a scaffold, check the number and condition of the anchors and replace any that may have been removed. The scaffolding must always be brought back into compliance before it is dismantled.
