31 PRESENTATION - TECHNICAL INFORMATION - 2023 PRESENTATION WORK ON PUBLIC ROADS ELECTRICITY •Poster and protect the sites on public roads. • Check that the protection postering is present and that it remains in place. •Comply with the equipment storage areas. Work in the vicinity of electric lines •Turned off by the operator. • Before intervening, wait for the issuance of the powerdown certificate: the solution to be favoured. PROTECTION VIA SEPARATION • Comply with the safety distances: 3.00 m if voltage < 50,000 volts, 5.00 m if voltage > 50,000 volts. •Fit templates or markings. PROTECTION VIA A SCREEN •Fitted by the operator. •Prohibited to touch the screens. PROTECTION VIA INSULATION • Fit sleeves that are specifically reserved for the operator. • The protected area must exceed the work area. Use of an electrical device or installation •Use hand-held power tools in good condition. •Check the power cables. • Check that the electrical installation has been inspected. •Protect the electrical cables. • Use very low voltage (VLV 24 volts) in the capacities (metal enclosures). •Hold an electrical authorisation for: - intervening in an electrical box, - working in the vicinity of electrical installations. •When employees are exposed to the risk of drowning: - they have to be equipped with inflatable life jackets, - an alarm signal must be provided, - where applicable, one (or more) boats operated by one (or several) boatsmen must be provided. •Provide, if necessary, lifesavers with a rope. LIFTING • Before use, always check the cords, slings and all the lifting accessories: hooks, shackles... • Create solid and safe slings. • Use the ropes or slings working with a noose. • Attach the ropes, slings to supports that are sufficiently resistant. • Protect sharp edges and angles. • Favour mechanical devices (winches). • Use equipment in good condition. • Check the validity of the latest technical inspection. WORK IN THE VICINITY OR OVER WATER Earthing scaffolding The problem of earthing scaffolding regularly arises on sites, out of a concern for worker safety. OPPBTP has studied this issue and has concluded that earthing a built-up scaffold is not a recommended protection measure with regard to electrical hazards. in fact, it rather recommends: •removing the scaffolding in a storm, due to the risk of lightning, •using a highly sensitive differential circuit breaker (DDHS 30 mA) for the electrical devices used by the workers. Favour lockout (lines powered down).
