P o d i u m 5 9 Composition of the decks The 5 kN/m 2 working load can be achieved if: 1-The stringers are in good condition and have the following characteristics: - Nature: category 2 resin ( σ e = 0.80 kN/cm 2 ) - 93 x 82 mm or 100 x 75 mm in diameter - Spacing: 0.35 m - Length = grid section length - 65 mm (Example: 2.00 m grid section, 1.935 m stringer) 2-The decks are made of combi plywood at least 18 mm thick. All podiums must be justified by a design note and working drawing. See the assembling and dismantling recommendations on page 10. The personal protective equipment must be attached on the Multicrab (see page 22) at least 1.00 m above the deck on which the operator is working, either around a ledger or through a stirrup. The stirrups at deck level must on no account be used for attaching. One of the two hooks on the fall prevention system must be constantly attached. • Fit single staples on the ends and double staples in the middle. • Fit stringers in the staples. • Screw each end of the stringers into the staples' holes. • Fit the guardrail supports. • Assemble a public access staircase beside the podium, following the appropriate safe assembly procedure. • Attach the “No entry” sign. • Access the podium deck following the erecting procedure with PPE. • Fit and screw in plywood as you progress from the access staircase. • Each plywood board must be fixed to the stringers with at least 6 screws. • Place and lay the adjustable baseplates on the spacing shims. • Fit horizontal diagonals brace to the nut of the adjustable baseplate. • Interlock the basic standards. • Fit the ledgers. • Level. • Fit standards finished with 0.27 m end posts. • Standards must be double bolted. • Fit diagonals brace on every other section facing each other. • If necessary, depending on the height, lay and use temporary Panacier. • Fit rectangle ledgers. • Fit guardrails around the podium. • Inspect the podium and put the inspection report in the pocket on the “no entry” sign". 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Dismantling: dismantle in the reverse order of assembly.
