F a ç a d e c a l c u l a t i o n s Design assumptions The following calculations are performed with the method proposed in the scaffolding manual of the Syndicat Français de l'échafaudage, du Coffrage et de l’étaiement( SFECE). The assumptions in question are primarily those of the Eurocodes and of standards NF EN 12810 and 12811. THe following justifications are valid for standard façade scaffolding with a maximum height of 24 m installed on a closed building. Special calculations are required for any other configuration. Our design offices are at your disposal to carry out any specific calculations. The calculation determines the downward load in the standard bearing the greatest load and the stresses in the anchor ties for a configuration compliant with the standards . The anchor ties are verified according to the bearing element and the technical data sheets of the suppliers. The admissible load on the standard bearing the greatest load is determine as a function of the distribution of the anchor ties: - for a non-covered structure: 18.69 kN - for a structure covered with a canvass cover or net: 24.94 kN (Eurocode 3) Comment on the justification of anchor ties and anchors Closed building: Phi B = 1 Design assumptions: Scaffolding 24 m tall. Comment on the justification of elements under working load The scaffolding can bear different loads according to its usefulness. The load applies to working surfaces varies according to the class of the scaffolding (see chapter on scaffolding classes). This load is applied in its entirety to the working surface on the most unfavourable deck. When scaffolding in service has several levels, the whole working surface, cantilevered or supported by brackets, must be able to bear the same working load ad the main deck (NF EN 12811-1 art. 6.2.2.5) 50% of this load must also be applied to the working surface directly above or below (NF EN 12811-1 art. 6.2.9.2) Principle for calculating the working load: Decks and brackets: 1 level bearing 100% of the load 1 level bearing 50% of the load non-covered structure (NR) Distribution of anchor ties for: structure covered with a canvas sheet or a net 160 It is advisable to justify the anchor ties and the anchors.
