MULTICRAB - TECHNICAL INFORMATION - 2023 92 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS BRIDGING GIRDER WITH PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT P.P.E. •Fit a temporary base in order to ensure the proper centre distance and the levelling of the scaffolding on either side of the bridging. •Assembly of the structure up to 2.00 m above the level of the girders, following the matching instructions. •The operators are in collective protection. •Fit the anchors and the lifting system. 1 2 3 4 •The operator on the ground, after having ensured the fastening of the girders, guides the lifting carried out by his colleagues from the lower level of the attachment points of the girders. •Once the girders are positioned perpendicular to the attachment points, the operator on the ground maintains the lifting ropes in order to free up his colleague, in order to allow him to carry out the keying of the latter on the scaffolding. •Repeat the same procedure for the assembly of the second girder. •Remove the ledgers blocking the access to the bridging following the assembly procedure with P.P.E. (attaching in the stirrup). •Fit as the decks progress on the top tower member of the girders. •Fit the 1.00 m upright and guardrail ledgers. •Lay 2 connection ledgers on the stirrups at the centre point of the top and bottom bridging girders. •Fit the guardrail ledgers and decks to finish the bridging. •Fit the toe boards. •Continue assembling following the instructions matching the structure. •Fit an anchor attached to the 2 central uprights of the bridging girder at 2.00 m above the passage. •Inspect the scaffolding and put the inspection report in the pocket on the “no entry” sign. 6 •Bridging girders must be carefully checked before assembly as they are subject to great stress. •Erecting walkways with girders requires a special study factoring in the site's surroundings, the façade to be treated and more particularly the support points. RECOMMENDATIONS •The walkways with girders sometimes must be reinforced with spans surrounding the bridging. P.P.E. attachment points: refer to the P.P.E chapter. 5 Dismantling is to be done in the reverse order of assembly. INFO See the assembly recommendations presented at the beginning of this technical information.
