107 MULTICRAB - TECHNICAL INFORMATION - 2023 MULTICRAB ASSEMBLY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE •Access the top level then fit the toe boards to complete the assembly. •Dismantle the assembly decks from the ground. •Fit a horizontal wind brace tube and couplers at the base of the mobile scaffolding. •Inspect the structure and put the inspection report in the pocket on the “no entry” sign. 7 WORKSITE ENVIRONMENT PREPARING THE GROUND For a structure not exposed to wind and without cantilevers, we recommend you apply the following rule: height H of the highest deck is less than 3.5 times the smallest dimension of its base l. H W For a frame exposed to the wind, do not use the mobile structure in winds exceeding 45 km/h (NF EN 1004). In stronger winds, the structure must be anchored or dismantled. The uprights must be bolted together. For a structure with cantilever, a case study with design notes must be produced in order to ensure the mobile structure cannot tip over. RECOMMENDATIONS < 3.5 and W ≥ 1 m (NF EN 1004) In order to prevent the mobile structure tipping over, never apply horizontal forces greater than the admissible forces: 1 - The use of brackets is generally incompatible with the equipment's self-stable stability, 2 - Never pull cables from the platform. 3 - Never move mobile scaffolding with anyone on one of the decks or exerting force on the construction from the upper part. 4 - It is essential to check whether, on the path of the scaffolding, there are any obstacles, hoppers, substantial differences in height, etc., likely to unbalance it. 5 - Avoid moving mobile scaffolding on a slope. 6 - Mobile scaffolding is not designed to take canvas covers or nets. 7 - Never create a “bridge” between the mobile scaffolding and a building. 8 - Large mobile structures can only travel in one direction. Examine the site and look for any risks that may impede the movement of the mobile scaffolding: • nature of the ground and gradient, • any obstruction at ground level or in the air, • wind, if used outdoors. The wheels of mobile scaffolds as a matter of principle have a very small bearing surface on the ground. So it is essential in many cases to lay a track; this will also facilitate movements. It can for instance be made of UPN rails chose according to the width of the wheels.
